Epithalon (Epitalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide derived from the epithalamus. It has been studied for its ability to activate telomerase, potentially extending cellular lifespan — making it central to longevity research.
Where we hold an independent Janoshik report for a compound we publish it in full - batch number, purity and a verification key you can check against the lab yourself. Where we do not hold one the product is marked research grade and we say so, rather than claim a report we cannot produce.
The short version: Epithalon is a four-amino-acid peptide made in St Petersburg as a synthetic copy of an extract from the pineal gland. It is studied around telomeres, the caps on the ends of chromosomes, which makes it one of the most ambitious ideas in peptide research.
Epithalon (also spelled Epitalon) is alanine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid and glycine, AEDG for short. It came out of Vladimir Khavinson's lab at the St Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, as a simpler synthetic version of Epithalamin, an extract from cow pineal glands.
Telomeres shorten every time a cell divides, and that shortening is one of the markers of ageing. In 2003, Khavinson's group reported that Epithalon switched on telomerase, the enzyme that rebuilds telomeres, in human cells in a dish, and a follow-up reported the treated cells dividing more times before stopping.
In 2025, independent labs outside Russia reported repeating the telomerase finding in cell lines. That matters, because for years almost all the work came from one group.
This is cell-culture evidence. There are no placebo-controlled human trials, and longer telomeres in a dish are not the same as slower ageing in a person.
It arrives as a freeze-dried powder. Once bacteriostatic water goes in, it belongs in the fridge. Our reconstitution and storage guide covers the details, and the calculator does the maths.
Four amino acids and a very big idea. Worth knowing both halves: the cell results, and how little human data there is.
